Plan Headcount in Employees

Premium

Model roles, pay, benefits, payroll taxes, and pay-group timing.

The Employees schedule is where you model payroll, benefits, taxes, and timing in one place.

The workflow uses a split view:

  • employee list on the left
  • employee detail pane on the right

Create the employee shell first

Add an employee from Schedules > Employees; the New Employee pane opens on the right.

What you set at creation:

  • Employee Name
  • Category
  • Start Date and optional End Date
  • Pay Group Override if this employee should not inherit the category default
  • Initial Role
  • Initial Compensation

Build the employee after creation

The main sections are:

  • Employment Profile for name, category, dates, and pay group
  • Role Timeline for title changes, FTE changes, and role timing
  • Compensation for salary, hourly pay, bonus, and raises
  • Benefits for assigned benefit rules
  • Payroll Taxes for assigned payroll tax rules

Use the right level for the change

Use Role Timeline when the job itself changes.

Use Compensation when pay changes.

Use Benefits or Payroll Taxes when the employee should use a different rule or assignment period.

These stay separate: a promotion usually changes both role and compensation, and each is its own edit.

Pay groups control cash timing

Pay groups determine when payroll settles into cash.

Set them up in Data Setup > Pay Groups, then either:

  • assign the default at the employee category level
  • override it on one employee when needed

Use the employee override only when that person truly follows a different pay cycle than the rest of the category.

What flows out of Employees

Employees can drive:

  • expense
  • liabilities
  • payroll cash timing
  • dimension splits when configured

If the employee starts mid-forecast, cost begins on that start date. If the employee ends, the cost stops there too.
