Allocate Forecasts by Dimension

Premium

Split forecast values across departments, locations, or other reporting segments.

Use dimensions when one forecast value should be split across reporting segments such as Department, Location, or Product.

Set the dimensions up first in Data Setup > Dimensions. If the dimension picker is empty, the entity does not have usable dimensions yet.

Split a statement row by dimension

Inside the row's inline assumption editor, use + Dim to add a dimension member and its percentage. Repeat until the split totals 100%.

Use this when one row should be shared across segments, such as:

  • payroll split between departments
  • rent split between locations
  • revenue split between product lines

Allocate a schedule item by dimension

Schedule items carry their own allocations. Open the item from Schedules, go to Dimension Allocations in its detail panel, and add each output's dimension member and percentage.

You allocate per output stream, so a schedule that produces more than one can split each separately, for example a loan splitting interest one way and principal another.

What to check when the slice looks wrong

  • Make sure the percentages add to 100%.
  • Make sure the forecast view is actually split by that dimension.
  • Make sure you allocated to the correct output stream — for a loan, that means interest versus principal.

If the consolidated total looks right but one slice is missing value, the most common cause is an incomplete allocation.
